FREE SERVICES TO DOCUMENTED VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE

Financed through the contributions of corporations, private individuals and other charitable foundations, active-fund-raising efforts are continuously underway. The Gift of Power provides self-defense educational materials – Including books, manuals, subscription-based Internet Instruction and several weeks of in-person instruction – pro bono to documented victims of rape, physical assault and/or domestic violence (as referred by police departments, women’s shelters and other reputable agencies and organizations. With an estimated cost to the GOP of $335.00 per student served, director Hebler encourages corporations to sponsor a minimum of 10 students at a time ( a $3,350.00 investment ), noting that an estimated 85% goes directly to the benefit of the self-defense students, with the other 15% going towards Foundation administrative overhead.

The comprehensive GOP women’s self-defense program operates through nation-wide network of certified “Threat Level Yellow” instructors personally trained by Grand Master Hebler, a 10th degree black belt as bestowed by the Original American Kenpo Karate Association. “Threat Level Yellow” is a comprehensive, 12 lesson beginner’s program taught over a 4-to-6 week period. In this program, students gain knowledge of a wide variety of simple, life-saving self-defense techniques that are designed to heighten mental fortitude, sharpen awareness of one’s environment and, most importantly, successfully fend off and disable an attacker at least temporarily, allowing the would-be victim the crucial extra seconds they need to flee the scene and escape further harm.

In addition to the hands-on "Threat Level Yellow" instruction, GOP students also receive a six-month subscription to www.protectingwomen.com, a ground-breaking, highly interactive internet website that offers visitors a level of visual instruction that surpasses the capabilities of a DVD; as well as a copy of Dave Hebler's latest book, "MAKING IT OUT ALIVE, protecting women and children from violence", which contains a comprehensive list of vital preventative measures you can take to avoid becoming a victim.

Besides the aforementioned activities, future GOP plans call for further community outreach in the form of offering intermediate and advanced curriculums, i.e. “Threat Level Orange” instruction; self-defense lectures or workshops sponsored by churches and other organizations; television and radio programming; courses and training geared toward specific concerns at high schools and college campuses; in-house corporate training programs; Internet chat and support groups; as well as forming strategic alliances with other like-minded organizations for special events and programs designed to heighten awareness of the need for accessible self-defense training.
