DAVE HEBLER’S GIFT OF POWER - OUR DIRECTORS

Trever Sherman

Trever Sherman was raised on a farm in a small town in Idaho.  From a young age he was taught the importance of commitment and hard work.  These values were continually being written in his heart and soul through years of working with his father’s and neighbor’s crops and livestock.  After graduating High School, Trever served a two year mission for his church.  Once again, commitment and hard work played a major role in his life.  During this service he learned to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently.

He graduated from College with a degree in Psychology.  During his college years, he was blessed with two wonderful children and the opportunity to be a father.  After college, Trever moved to California to teach American Kenpo.

Collectively, Trever has been studying and teaching the martial arts for over 20 years.  He holds black belts in the traditional arts of Shotokan, Taekwondo, and Hapkido.  For the past 15 years, Trever has focused his training in American Kenpo and currently holds the rank of Associate Professor.  He was advanced to that level by his mentor and instructor, Master Dave Hebler.  To keep his martial arts relevant and to continue his personal evolution as a martial artist, in 2002, Trever began to train MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).  MMA consists of several disciplines such as boxing, American kickboxing, muay thai, wrestling, jiu jitsu, and judo, to name a few.  He has been blessed with the opportunity to train with some of the best practitioners and fighters of these disciplines.  For the past four years, Trever has been training boxing and kickboxing under the guidance of Peter "Sugarfoot" Cunningham and has studied Brazilian jiu jitsu under Brazilian Top Team black belt instructor, Leonardo Soares.  Along with that training, Trever continues to search out professional instructors and fighters who can guide him on his martial art journey.  He is currently employed as an instructor for Dawn Barnes Karate Kids and he also runs the MMA program at M-1 Global USA in Chatsworth, California.

Most recently, Trever has been employed by current IBF World Heavy Weight Boxing Champion, James "Lights Out" Toney, as Head Trainer in preparation for his UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) debut, UFC 118 where he will meet Randy Couture in Boston, Massachusetts  August 28, of this year.

Currently, Trever lives in California’s San Fernando Valley with his wife Kristin, their children and their two dogs.
