GM Dave Hebler is an internationally recognized author, Martial Arts/Self-Defense instructor, lecturer and teacher.
GM Hebler began his Martial Arts career under the late Senior Grandmaster of American Kenpo Karate, Ed Parker in 1959 and today is a 10th Degree Black Belt as bestowed by the Original American Kenpo Karate Association (OAKKA) in 1991 and holds the distinction of being one of the most senior active American Kenpo stylist in the world.
As a master self-defense instructor with over a half-century of teaching experience, GM Hebler has, literally, spent his entire adult life helping people learn how to protect themselves against violent physical assaults.
For a number of years, GM Hebler was Elvis Presley’s personal bodyguard. As an integral part of Elvis’ personal and professional life, GM Hebler’s primary responsibility was the personal safety of Elvis at home as well as at recording sessions, personal appearances, concert tours and various recreations. His duties included arrangements with law enforcement, security and travel agencies as well as co-ordination with personnel in hundreds of cities, concert halls hotels and transportation companies. He was responsible for the safe and effective management of individuals and crowds both at home and on the road.
GM Hebler is a best-selling co-author of the book “Elvis What Happened?” Released just two weeks before Elvis’ death in 1977, we’re told that this book, at the time, held the distinction of being the best-selling, original non-fiction paperback book in the history of publishing. It also received, what was at the time, the single largest order for any book of its type….five million copies.
Since that time, GM Hebler has traveled the world as a speaker and Martial Arts instructor, giving lectures and workshops on self-defense, particularly as it pertains to females.
In addition, GM Hebler has authored several books including the recently published “Making it Out Alive, protecting women and children from violence” and his newest book “How to Survive Encounters of the Worst Kind.” He has also produced a companion DVD, detailing the self-defense techniques contained in “Encounters” in video and audio formats.
Recently, GM Hebler was honored as one of the 24 most prominent American Kenpoists of today in the book “The Journey.”
